Mott MacDonald is expanding its transportation team in Western New York and is seeking a Construction Inspector I/II. This role involves working on highway, bridge, and other related transportation construction projects, requiring a basic understanding of construction industry standards and practices, and an interest in gaining expertise in large-scale projects.

Requirements

Have interest in a diverse range of construction projects including but not limited to bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects
Be detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks at a time
Possess appropriate level of education and/or experience
Have valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
0-5 years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects
Proficiency in collecting data, interpreting plans, conducting field measurements, performing calculations, and documenting work performed by contractor
Proficiency with standard software applications and ability to learn new programs
Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology
Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

Assist with monitoring of daily construction activities
Track and report quantity usage
Prepare daily work reports as needed
Verify conformance of materials supplied by contractor with standard specifications and contract documents
Interpret construction drawings and specifications on projects as needed
Be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary
