About The Position
UNICO Engineering is seeking a seasoned Construction Inspector with experience in various infrastructure projects including roadways, paving, structures (bridges), curb, gutter, sidewalk, underground utilities, and earthwork. The role requires a thorough understanding of plans and specifications, Caltrans, and local agency requirements. Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience for transportation, structures and utility projects
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction inspectors’ capacity
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Ability to use computer to complete project documentation
- Thorough understanding of CAL OSHA practices and procedures
- Bridge construction inspection experience required
- Ability to pass a pre employment drug screening
- Clean Drivers license and DMV record required
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Knowledge of Caltrans procedures and standards highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide daily inspections and complete documentation including daily reports, project photographs, etc.
- Coordinate with clients/owners, other consultants, contractors, materials testers and others involved with the project.
- Assist Resident Engineers and provide input on project schedule, extra work bills, potential change orders, and communication with businesses and residents.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Monitor construction for compliance with project documents including collecting and checking material tags and certificates of compliance.
- Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures.
- Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Caltrans Standards), including checking grades, formwork, rebar placement, concrete batch tickets, curing method, etc.
- Communicate with project team members and provide recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
