About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Construction Inspector based out of our Vancouver office. The Construction Inspector will support various projects based in British Columbia and across Canada. This job posting is intended for you to express your interest in a future upcoming opportunity within AtkinsRéalis. The role involves monitoring and ensuring the work of contractors involved in construction projects and performing inspection and quality assurance activities. The inspector will frequently communicate with client representatives and contractors to ensure inspection activities are progressing against timelines. Responsibilities include observing and documenting construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, such as daily diaries, daily pay item reports, and memos to contractors regarding acceptance or rejection of work. The role requires researching and interpreting contract requirements to determine if construction work complies with plans, specifications, and special provisions. The ability to plan and prioritize tasks, and advise internal project managers and/or owners of any failures or delays is essential. Maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and reviewing designs and drawings performed by others are key aspects of the role. The Construction Inspector will also prepare daily reports and participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly reports, supervise construction works, and support the OER where possible.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction or related field or a combination of equivalent training and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years of proven inspection experience directly related major large scale construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exposure to working on multi-disciplinary construction sites.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, planning, and organizing abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks, as well as advise internal project manager and/or owner of any failures or delays.
  • Maintain quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Prepare the daily reports and participates in the preparation of the weekly and monthly reports.
  • Supervise the construction works and support the OER in some activity where possible.
