About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Part-time as Needed (PTAN) Construction Inspector to join their Construction Management Team in South Florida. This position offers flexibility as hours will vary depending on workload, with potential for full-time needs during busy periods and downtime during others. It's an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated individual seeking flexibility. The Construction Inspector will leverage their expertise in construction inspection, field management, QA/QC, and report documentation on various municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, SCADA, electrical, civil, or other construction projects. Supported by a strong technical staff, the inspector will report to the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors, providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

  • 5 years of mechanical/civil/utility construction inspection experience.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems.
  • High level of math aptitude.
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities.
  • Solid time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work year-round in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • 8 or more years of civil/utility construction inspection experience.
  • Experience with structural/mechanical/electrical construction inspection activities on small to larger sized infrastructure construction projects.
  • NASSCO ITCP / PACP certifications.
  • ACI or NICET certifications.
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors.
  • Perform punch list inspections.
  • Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents.
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos.
  • Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach.
  • Monitor code compliance issues.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents and inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates, and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work.
  • Assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections.
  • Local travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, and construction oversight.
