About The Position

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our growing team in Charleston, West Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of site development and infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your growth. You’ll contribute to real projects from day one and continue developing your technical skills, field experience, and understanding of project delivery. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • 6+ months of experience testing and/or inspecting soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, or similar materials
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and project specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate field documentation
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician (Grade I), International Code Council (ICC), Nuclear Density Gauge, or other State/Regional equivalent certifications are a plus
  • WVDOH TRET Level I or II, Asphalt Field and Compaction, Aggregate Soil and Compaction, and/or PCC Inspector Certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Operate field equipment, including nuclear density gauges and other testing tools
  • Document daily field activities, test results, and observations through clear and accurate reporting
  • Review and interpret construction plans and specifications to support inspection activities
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, contractors, and project teams to maintain project quality and progress
  • Maintain and calibrate field equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results
  • Travel locally to job sites using company-provided vehicles
