About The Position

The Town of Marana is hiring a full-time Construction Inspector in its Water Department. The position inspects water and sewer construction projects, including capital improvement and developer-funded projects, to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications and applicable federal, state, and local regulations and statutes. The role also participates in project planning and review, monitors construction progress, documents project activities, reviews project materials and records, and coordinates quality control testing and safety compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency, plus six months of additional education and/or training.
• Three years of experience in underground utilities construction or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Valid Arizona Driver License.
• Complete a pre-employment physical and pass a 50-pound lift test.
• Complete the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

• Combination of water and wastewater construction inspection experience.
• ADEQ Operator Certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Conveyance.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings for design recommendations and plan reviews, including discussions of constructability, potential construction schedules, phasing, sequencing, and project specifications.
• Conduct worksite inspections and testing, monitor construction progress, and ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Investigate and respond to complaints; research and compile data; prepare related reports; document construction activities; and enter project data into a tracking system.
• Maintain daily records of work performed and as-built records during construction; compile project reports and post-construction documentation for approval.
• Interpret plans and specifications and review contractor submittals, material submittals, test reports, and certifications.
• Oversee and coordinate quality control testing and safety compliance for projects.
