JMT is recognized as one of the Top 500 Design Firms by Engineering News-Record. The Virginia Beach Construction Management Team at JMT is seeking a Construction Inspector. This role involves applying standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities, both during and after completion, to ensure structural quality, general safety, and adherence to plans, specifications, and codes. Please note that immigration sponsorship is not available for this position, with the exception of qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. The compensation for this role is estimated to be between $30.00 and $36.00 per hour, determined by experience, education, and certifications. Requirements

  • Strong Computer proficiency
  • Active driver's license
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Soil and Aggregate Compaction - NICET LEVEL II
  • Asphalt Field Level I
  • Asphalt Field Level II
  • Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field - ACI Concrete Field Level I, or WACEL Concrete I, or NICET LEVEL II
  • Pavement Marking GRIT (Guardrail Certification)
  • Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection - Virginia DEQ
  • Stormwater Management (Inspector) Certification - Virginia DEQ
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training - Nuclear Regulatory Commission Recognized Provider
  • Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control - VDOT Approved Provider
  • 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training – OSHA
  • Slurry Surfacing (SS)
  • Surface Treatment (ST)

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
