About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Construction Inspector to work within the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division Engineering Section supporting our Maryland Port Administration Dredged Material Containment Facility projects, primarily the Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City Facilities at Cox Creek and Masonville. The successful applicant will provide construction inspection for construction and dredging projects ranging from remediation and marine construction to large earth-moving projects. Responsibilities include performing inspection services and maintaining records of site activities, performing erosion and sediment control inspections, potentially performing on-site sample testing or collection of samples for off-site laboratories, and assisting Engineers and Construction Managers with project documentation and contractor coordination. May respond to Clients and Contractors regarding standards, specifications and inspection procedures after consultation with supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be able to operate personal computers using word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • May be required to assist equipment operators and other personnel for routine manual labor tasks such as grounds and facility maintenance, loading of supplies and materials for delivery
  • Graduation from a standard High School or GED (for Inspector Trainee)
  • Graduation from a standard High School or GED plus one year of work experience related to construction or construction inspection (for Inspector)
  • Graduation from a standard High School or GED plus three years of work experience related to construction or construction inspection (for Senior Inspector)
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
