About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Atlanta, Georgia! This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, electrical/instrumentation, civil or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in water distribution/sewer collection piping installation and/or repair
  • Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems
  • High level of math aptitude
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities
  • Solid time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook)
  • Employee to work year-round in various weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years of civil or utility construction inspection experience
  • Strong background in performing civil and mechanical inspection activities on small to large infrastructure projects
  • NASSCO certifications such as ITCP, PACP, and MACP
  • Water Distribution System and/or Wastewater Collection System certifications
  • ACI or NICET certifications
  • Erosion and Sediment Control certification
  • OSHA training—specifically OSHA ‑ 10, Confined Space Entry, and Trenching and Shoring
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors
  • Perform punch list inspections
  • Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos
  • Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections
  • Review submittits and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met
  • Local travel will include to project site, client meetings, construction oversight, etc.
