About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist engineers with the completion of Water/Wastewater and Utility construction projects in Fort Pierce, FL. JMT is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals, offering a wide range of multidisciplinary services. This position does not offer immigration sponsorship, except for TN visa eligibility.

Requirements

  • High school degree/equivalent or better.
  • 3+ years of related experience on field projects.
  • Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices.
  • Must be able to read plans and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices.
  • Willing to travel within the state of FL.
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Active driver’s license.
  • Strong Computer proficiency.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to act in an Owner’s Agent/Responsible in Charge role.
  • Experience and understanding of water treatment plants construction and rehabilitation works.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities, and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes, including water and sewer utilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure (earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc.) to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documents.
  • Provide field engineering, construction management, and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, RFIs, correspondence, change requests/orders) on-site and in-office.
  • Ensure construction workmanship and materials adhere to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Accurately document all construction inspection activities through daily reports and organized field files.
  • Oversee and coordinate material testing to ensure materials meet project specifications.
  • Conduct field measurements for quantity take-offs for pay items and contract administration.
  • Participate in close-out activities, including punch list preparation and final inspection reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams (including cost estimators, designers, and other engineers).
  • Act on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Operate and manage files within a Project Management Information System (PMIS) such as Procore or eBuilder.
  • Provide input and participate in client, contractor, and staff progress meetings.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries.
