Construction Inspector - Road/Bridge (Entry Level)

JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms. The Trenton Construction Services Team is seeking to hire entry-level inspectors. This role involves applying standard inspection procedures to ongoing and completed construction work, ensuring structural quality, general safety, and compliance with plans, specifications, and codes. The position may require working night shifts. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Compensation ranges from $25.00-$35.00 per hour, based on experience, education, and certifications.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
- On the job training provided
- Communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Active Driver’s License
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle Screening
Nice To Haves
- Construction inspection experience preferred in transportation
- NICET | Certification or ability to obtain within first six months of employment
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for compliance with approved plans and specifications, laws, and safety regulations.
- Perform routine tests as needed for concrete, soils, and other materials.
- Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement for compliance with contract documents.
- Prepare daily reports, quantity measurements, and computations.
- Make field notes and computations.
- Track delivery tickets and pay items for processing payments.
