About The Position

The Construction Inspector III works on active roadway and bridge construction projects. The role independently handles less complex construction activities and assists experienced inspectors with complex assignments. It includes field inspection, documentation and testing, communication, problem resolution, safety compliance, and maintaining required certifications. The inspector must be physically capable of conducting field inspections and willing to work in varied weather conditions, potentially including night shifts and varied schedules.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant experience in a construction-related field.
Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures.
Basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently.
Ability to work effectively as a team member and complete daily reports by hand and computer.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass and maintain required certifications.
Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment; motor vehicle checks may be required depending on the position.

Responsibilities

Prepare timely, detailed reports documenting construction progress, inspections, and testing results.
Record and submit daily forms according to project requirements, and review work for completeness and accuracy before submission.
Maintain records, measure field quantities, and conduct field and other required tests to determine contractor compliance with contract specifications.
Submit accurate timesheets, mileage, and expense reports each week on time.
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors, and resolve problems at the lowest level.
Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on commercial, municipal, institutional, heavy-highway, and bridge projects.
Review job-site safety daily and promptly document and resolve safety issues.
Follow OSHA safety standards, corporate policies, applicable industry standards, and client requirements.
