About The Position

Pioneer Technical Services, Inc. is recruiting for a Construction Inspection and Materials Testing Technician in Libby, MT. This full-time position involves field inspection services, materials testing in the laboratory, and project oversight/management. The role requires a self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision and offers significant compensation benefits and career advancement opportunities. The position is expected to be 40 to 50 compensated hours per week, with some Saturday work potentially required. Pioneer will provide on-the-job training for field and laboratory testing tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Must be able to complete basic computer tasks that include Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Valid Class D driver's license.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • College education preferred.
  • Field of Study: Civil/Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, or related/equivalent education or experience.
  • Project experience in general construction, field density testing, concrete testing, soil sampling, and materials testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field density testing using a nuclear density gauge.
  • Conduct fresh grout and concrete sampling.
  • Perform shotcrete testing and coring.
  • Conduct compressive strength testing of grout, concrete, and shotcrete specimens in the laboratory.
  • Manage data.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Organize samples.
  • Communicate with Contractor or Site Supervisor regarding testing results and any failing tests or problems.
  • Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
  • Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect deficiencies and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
  • Prepare daily field inspection reports that document project activities and data.
  • Conduct materials testing and analysis using provided tools and equipment.
