About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking a Construction Helper (Maintenance Trades Helper) to join their team at the Fort Rucker Gunnery Range Complex in Fort Rucker, AL. This full-time, non-exempt position involves assisting skilled workers by supplying materials and tools, cleaning work areas and equipment, and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. The role supports the construction and repair of training support items, buildings, structures, fences, concrete pads, and other training support facilities within a large range and training complex. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings with varying temperatures and requires physical activity such as standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs alone. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 0600 to 1430.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in construction and maintenance.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD NACI Clearance prior to start date and maintain that clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • All employees will be subject to pre-employment drug screening. Any offer of employment shall be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assists other skilled workers by keeping workers supplied with materials and tools.
  • Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment.
  • Assists journeymen by holding materials or tools.
  • Performs other unskilled tasks as directed by journeymen.
  • Constructs and repairs training support items on ranges and training areas.
  • Studies specifications; measures, marks, and cuts boards using patterns, templates, rulers, pencils, and hand and power saws.
  • Fastens or installs parts using hammers, nailing machines, or power staplers.
  • Repairs defective training aids by replacing damaged parts and inserting wood bracings.
  • Builds wall facades and target frames using rulers, hand tools, and pneumatic nail guns.
  • Fabricates, repairs, modifies, and replaces woodwork training structures.
  • Applies preservatives to prolong wood life.
  • Performs general maintenance repair to buildings, structures, fences, concrete, asphalt pads, range support facilities, LRC obstacles, and similar training support structures.
