About The Position

The Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols at a designated construction site. This role supports the site team by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting inspections, and fostering a culture of safety.

Requirements

  • Active CHST certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
  • Experience managing safety on a single-site construction project
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e.: Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Comfortable working within Windows-based platforms
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software systems and digital tools
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity and ethical behavior in all interactions
  • Must be a dependable team player who collaborates respectfully with colleagues across departments
  • Must be self-driven and able to manage responsibilities independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Must communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Must show attention to detail and a commitment to producing high quality, accurate work
  • Must be capable of learning and adapting to new systems and technologies with ease
  • Must maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Must demonstrate a customer-service mindset when supporting internal teams and external contacts
  • Must understand the importance of safety compliance and contribute to a culture of safety awareness
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and work cooperatively with site personnel, management, customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors, suppliers, and other contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary safety contact for the assigned construction site
  • Conduct continuous site safety inspections and hazard assessments
  • Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and logs
  • Collaborate with site leadership to resolve safety concerns
  • Promote a proactive site leadership to resolve safety concerns
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
