About The Position

Sheladia Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Field Inspector to join their team in the DMV area. The location will be determined based on site/client office location. As a Construction Field Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that construction projects meet all required standards, codes, and specifications. This role involves conducting on-site inspections, verifying compliance, examining materials and workmanship, reviewing blueprints, preparing reports, identifying violations, and communicating findings to stakeholders. The inspector will also collaborate with other professionals and stay updated on industry best practices, utilizing inspection software and mobile devices.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Management
  • Minimum of 1 year of sidewalk/pavement construction experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction inspection or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes
  • Proficiency in inspection techniques and ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in using inspection software and mobile devices
  • National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various construction sites in the DMV area
  • Physical ability to navigate construction sites and perform inspections in various weather conditions

  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
  • Mid-Atlantic Region Technician Certification Program (MARTCP) for Concrete Field and Asphalt Field
  • Relevant certifications (Concrete Field, Asphalt Field, and Soils and Aggregate Compaction, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects at various stages of completion
  • Verify compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
  • Examine construction materials, methods, and workmanship for quality and safety
  • Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
  • Identify and document code violations or safety hazards
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other inspectors, engineers, and construction professionals
  • Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Utilize inspection software and mobile devices to streamline the inspection process
