About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing estimates and supplementary information for potential projects. The Construction Estimator will read, understand, and offer improvements to contract documents, coordinate with development for cost-effective estimation, and organize, price, and analyze information. Key duties include preparing preliminary estimates and budgets, managing bid proposals, providing cost feedback, communicating with subcontractors, and ensuring cost compliance.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • Typing and data entry skills.
  • Ability to use a 10-key calculator accurately by touch.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant programs.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of associates.
  • Knowledge of general construction equipment.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of compensation expectations, and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate construction budgets.
  • Consistent, regular and in person attendance during regular working hours at the workplace is required.

  • an Associates or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
  • Reads, understands and offers improvements to the contract documents.
  • Coordinate with development to estimate in a cost-effective manner.
  • Organizes, prices and analyzes information.
  • Preliminary estimate of cost to construct.
  • Preliminary budgets of cost to construct.
  • Responsible for the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
  • Unit elevations and cost feedback to owner.
  • Communicates with Subcontractors to clarify pricing information and develop a relationship.
  • Provide compensation expectations.
  • Accountable for cost compliance and completeness to eliminate/reduce subcontract questions.
  • Preliminary bids - organizing and managing project buyout, including bid packages and creation of scope of work for subcontractors.
  • Preliminary estimates of lumber, sheetrock, brick and other project materials, etc.
  • Coordination of bidding packages and submittals.
  • Obtaining multiple bids on every line item.
  • Assist in preparing final budget.
  • Make recommendations and modifications regarding site and office performance, business needs, etc.
  • Any other tasks assigned or directed.
