About The Position

America's Central Port is a public port authority, economic development agency, landlord, and developer. Our 1,200-acre property is located on the site of a former U.S. Army logistics base, just across the McKinley Bridge from St. Louis, MO. Through its redevelopment efforts, the Port has attracted over $300 million in private investment since 2007 and is responsible for over 2,460 local jobs. Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree within engineering or construction management.
  • One to three years of relevant work experience. Internships or demonstrated relevant coursework may be substituted for one year of work experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or ability to work towards certification within 5 years; or holds an EI/EIT certification and ability to work towards P.E. license.
  • Knowledge or skills of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a variety of construction trades.
  • Knowledge in project management skills related to organizing and scheduling construction tasks.
  • Familiar with basic surveying techniques.
  • Familiar in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
  • Familiar in Project Scheduling software and concepts (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.)
  • Knowledge of standard estimating procedures.
  • Ability to work in both an office and field environment.
  • Must be comfortable with physical activities requiring bending, lifting 50lbs, walking uneven terrain, climbing ladders and other construction site related conditions.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills as well as skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interact professionally with engineers, contractors and business associates of the Port.
  • Has a strong desire to learn and take initiative on opportunities which for the growth of the Port and its responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified or trained in OSHA safety regulations and safe construction practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned Port construction projects; including: plan reviews, assist in the preparation and organization of contract documents, managing the procurement and bidding process, preparation of any Board review of project approvals, communications with contractors and vendors, managing compliance with any grant and/or internal reporting requirements, and maintaining accurate as-builts.
  • Provides on-site inspection duties and documentation for on-going and assigned construction projects.
  • Schedules and facilitates project meetings.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders to identify and resolve problems.
  • Monitors project costs, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Reports project status to managers and ensures deadlines are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineer estimates for construction projects.
  • Assist with condition reviews of Port infrastructure (e.g. rail, roads, utilities, marine structures, buildings etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
