About The Position

Story Construction is seeking Construction Management Interns for their summer 2026 internship program. Interns will be assigned a jobsite and mentor, participate in orientation, create a learning plan, lead site tours, and present lessons learned to Senior Leadership. The internship offers exposure to commercial construction through a field-focus, project engineer-focus, or a hybrid approach, tailored to the intern's experience level. Field interns will work directly with crews on tasks like steel erection, concrete, and carpentry, with mentorship from a project engineer. Hybrid interns will split time between field work and project management tasks, gaining foundational knowledge and project planning experience. Project Engineer interns will focus on project planning and document control processes such as RFIs and submittals, using tools like Procore, to prepare for a career as a Project Engineer.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program studying construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering, industrial engineering, industrial technology, agricultural engineering, building trades, or similar.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to walk for moderate-to-long distances on varying surface conditions.
• Must be able to climb, crawl, crouch, reach, grip, push, and pull without issue.
• Must possess adequate communicative, auditory, and visual capabilities to avoid safety hazards and help others do the same.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to commercial construction through field-focus, project engineer-focus, or a hybrid approach.
• Work alongside a crew to learn about steel erection, concrete, and carpentry (Field focus).
• Receive mentorship and job shadowing opportunities with the project engineer on site (Field focus).
• Split time between working in the field and working alongside the project management team (Hybrid focus).
• Learn foundations of building and get involved in project planning and the project management process (Hybrid focus).
• Spend time with the project management team (project engineer, superintendent) based out of the jobsite trailer (Project Engineer focus).
• Learn about project planning and document control through processes such as requests for information (RFIs), submittmits, Procore, and more (Project Engineer focus).
• Attend and lead site tours.
• Present lessons learned to the Senior Leadership Team.
