About The Position

The Construction Engineer performs general analysis and implements generation technologies for Vistra operations or commercial development. The role plans and manages long-range programs and third-party resources to meet Luminant strategic objectives, and manages programs and projects that enhance the commercial availability of new technologies and improvements to existing technologies. Position level and pay grade are determined by education and skills/experience.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
Licensed Professional Engineer, or meets additional years-of-experience requirements.
Recognized within Vistra as a subject matter expert and used by others as a technical resource.
Knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code, and general industry issues, applied to resolve Vistra's interests.
Proficiency with business and technical evaluation processes.
Proficiency in fossil, solar, battery, or nuclear plant technologies.
Extensive experience in power plant operations or engineering, or comparable industries.
Mastery of fundamental scientific principles.
Strong business acumen.
Effective communication with peers and management, including representing Vistra's interests to outside agencies.
Ability to plan and execute corporate programs.
Ability to execute projects and strategies with minimal oversight.
Demonstrated high performance through consecutive evaluations or, for external candidates, work history.

Nice To Haves

Civil Engineering experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for the development of commercial, environmental, reliability, and sustainability interests in new technology applications.
Serve as a subject matter expert in areas valuable to Vistra.
Provide technical support to Operations in applying technologies at operating plants or plants in development.
Perform complex root cause analysis.
Provide innovative engineering solutions to difficult problems.
May develop other employees in areas of expertise.
Contribute to economic justification and analysis for projects.
Contribute to the development and execution of company engineering strategies and initiatives.
Plan and manage long-range programs and third-party resources to meet Luminant strategic objectives.
Manage programs and projects that enhance the commercial availability of new technologies and enhancements to existing technologies.
Represent Vistra's interests as an industry contributor in the employee's area of expertise and increase knowledge of new technologies.
Provide technical support on a fleetwide basis, maintain effective working relationships, and provide technical direction.
