About The Position

The Development Project Intern will gain hands-on experience assisting with the design, preconstruction, and construction activities on a given project(s). The Development Project Intern will interact on a daily basis with Facilities, Contractors, Designers, Engineers, Commissioning Agents, Vendors, and Data Center Operations & Corporate Real Estate staff. The intern should have both written and oral communication skills commensurate with this level of regular communication.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

• Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (listed below) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school: Auburn University, Kansas State University, Georgia State University, Southern Adventist University, Texas A&M University, University of Kansas
• Previous internship or co-op experience in construction or construction adjacent fields
• Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).

Responsibilities

• Assist Development team with day to day activities and responsibilities
• Assist in maintaining updated budgets, schedules, and status reports for a given project(s).
• Assist with updates on development program & project status on a monthly basis suitable for executive level reviews.
• Assist with entitlement and permitting needs for each assigned site project(s)
• Assist with scopes of work for design, construction, commissioning services & participate in procurement and project cost estimates
• Work with strategic procurement team on equipment procurement and delivery process
• Ensure appropriate submittments are coordinated with site stakeholders
• Assist with monitoring project budget / cost-to-date against overall project budget.
• Review project schedules, change orders, submittals and pricing proposals for design, construction and commissioning services
• Aid in due diligence efforts on an as-needed basis by participating with real estate efforts on potential or new land banks and properties.
• Work with the internal development team to enhance project management processes and protocols
