About The Position

Kokosing is a general contractor serving private and public sector clients with heavy civil and industrial construction, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, water and wastewater facilities, and marine construction. The Construction Design Engineer plans, designs, and reviews temporary construction engineering schemes and works with construction operations teams to develop construction methods and plans. The role coordinates project schedules and engineered submittals, accounts for contract and safety requirements, manages third-party reviews, and supports estimating, project teams, clients, and construction management.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in design and construction engineering roles involving bridge or highway projects, specifically temporary construction works such as shoring, erection, or demolition.
• Registered Ohio and/or West Virginia Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain registration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with estimating and operations staff.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and review temporary construction engineering schemes, including bridge erection, demolition, shoring, and falsework.
• Work with construction operations teams to develop construction means, methods, and plans.
• Coordinate project schedules to manage the needs of completed engineered submittals.
• Develop plans that meet contract, safety, and owner specification requirements.
• Manage third-party reviews and complete construction engineering submittals.
• Review project documents with construction estimating staff to develop pre-bid means and methods.
• Represent the company at client and project management meetings.
• Work with project teams to help resolve problems and ensure construction quality in support of the overall project.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by a supervisor.
