About The Position

Pete Fowler Construction Services seeks an experienced Construction Cost Estimator who has a strong desire to be a part of a team continuously striving to learn new technical and analytical skills in the construction industry. Specifically, we seek an Estimator with experience in: Residential, New Build, Remodel, and Damage Repair. This role involves preparing both order of magnitude and detailed estimates, sometimes with little or no specifications, and requires the ability to perform physical requirements for onsite inspections. The majority of the work week is spent in an office/professional setting, with infrequent field work. The company offers a hybrid work environment and is open to fully remote for the right candidate.

Requirements

• Years of demonstrated experience in construction project cost estimating and/or construction management.
• General construction knowledge about the various trades and how to estimate conceptual repairs.
• Critical thinking skills to solve problems.
• Inspection experience.
• Comfort in analyzing other estimates and be able to understand and critique estimates.
• Experience in creating estimates from scratch.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements needed to conduct onsite inspections.
• Intermediate-advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word/Excel/Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Email, and Internet Research Tools.
• Comfort working in an office/professional setting the majority of the work week.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Insurance and Commercial Estimation.
• Nerdy interest in numbers and a desire to learn and grow in the industry.
• Knowledge of Building Sciences.
• Architectural or engineering registration, construction license(s), and/or inspection certification(s).

Responsibilities

• Estimate construction costs for residential, new build, remodel, and damage repair projects.
• Perform onsite inspections to gather necessary information for estimates.
• Analyze other estimates and provide critiques.
• Create estimates from scratch.
• Prepare order of magnitude and detailed estimates, sometimes with little or no specifications.
• Utilize knowledge of building sciences.
• Conduct research using internet tools.
• Communicate solutions and recommendations through actionable information.
