About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Construction Contracts Manager to join our growing organization and establish a best-in-class contract management function. This is a brand-new role created to support the company's continued growth and long-term success. As Industra continues to expand across Canada, we recognize the increasing importance of strong commercial governance, proactive contract management, and effective risk mitigation. This position will play a critical role in building the processes, systems and standards that protect the company's commercial interests while supporting successful project delivery. You'll have the opportunity to shape how contracts are managed across the business—from pre-award review and negotiation through project delivery and contract close-out—working closely with Operations, Estimating, Finance, Project Management and external legal counsel. You'll have the autonomy to build and lead our contract management function, implement best practices, and develop scalable systems that will support the company's continued growth for years to come. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, a thorough understanding of construction contracts, and the practical ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years of contract management, commercial management or contract administration experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within construction, infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of CCDC, CCA, MMCD and subcontract agreements.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contract risk throughout project delivery.
  • Experience supporting claims management, change orders and contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance requirements, indemnities, warranties, payment provisions and risk allocation.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to prepare formal contractual correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance commercial risk with practical business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or training in Contract Law, Construction Law, Paralegal Studies, or Legal Administration is considered an asset.
  • Professional designation such as CPCM, CCCM, SCMP, or PMP is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the Contract Management Function
  • Act as the primary Contracts Manager, overseeing the day-to-day management and administration of contracts across the business.
  • Develop and implement company-wide contract management policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Build scalable systems and processes that will support the continued growth of the organization.
  • Continuously improve contract administration practices to reduce commercial risk and improve efficiency.
  • Review, negotiate and administer construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements and consulting agreements.
  • Identify commercial risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Work collaboratively with legal counsel on complex contractual matters and disputes.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Track critical dates, milestones, notice requirements and deliverables.
  • Coordinate notices relating to delays, changes, claims, defaults and extensions of time.
  • Assist project teams in identifying contractual risks before they become disputes.
  • Support Project Managers throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, amendments, correspondence and change documentation.
  • Ensure contracts remain current and properly executed.
  • Assist with contract close-out and final documentation.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of contractual notices.
  • Assist with change order administration and contract amendments.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for claims, disputes and negotiations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records to support commercial positions.
  • Partner with Operations, Estimating, Finance and Procurement throughout project delivery.
  • Provide guidance to project teams on contractual obligations and processes.
  • Deliver contract management training and education to internal stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and legal advisors.
  • Implement industry best practices for contract management.
  • Recommend improvements to contract templates and commercial processes.
  • Support organizational growth through stronger governance and commercial controls.
  • Develop reporting metrics to measure contract performance and risk.
