About The Position
The Construction Cleaner keeps assigned job sites clean, organized, and ready for the next trade. The position performs rough, final, and punch-phase construction cleaning — debris removal, sweeping and vacuuming, wiping down and detailing finished surfaces, glass and fixture cleaning, and overspray and adhesive removal — and supports RPG crews by staging materials and maintaining housekeeping in work areas, job trailers, and storage areas. Prior construction cleaning experience is required; the role must know how to work safely around active trades and how to clean finished surfaces without damaging them.
Requirements
- Prior construction cleaning experience is required — rough, final, and post-construction cleanup on active commercial job sites.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods and products appropriate to finished construction surfaces, including glass, painted surfaces, tile, concrete, and millwork.
- Ability to remove overspray, adhesive, and construction residue without damaging the underlying finish.
- Familiarity with shop vacuums, buffers, pressure washers, extension poles, and common hand tools.
- Understanding of safe chemical handling and safety data sheets.
- Ability to follow verbal and written direction and work independently once an area is assigned.
- Dependable daily attendance and reliable transportation to the assigned job site.
Nice To Haves
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification preferred, or willingness to obtain before start.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform rough, final, and punch-phase construction cleaning on assigned areas as directed by the Quality Department/Site Manager.
- Remove construction debris, trash, packaging, and scrap from work areas and transport it to designated dumpsters or disposal points. Document other trade debris.
- Sweep, shop-vac, mop, and detail floors, stairs, and walkways; keep egress paths clear at all times.
- Detail-clean finished surfaces — walls, trim, doors, frames, casework, fixtures, and hardware — without damaging coatings or finishes.
- Clean glass, window frames, tracks, and sills; remove labels, stickers, adhesive, caulk, drywall mud, and paint overspray using approved methods and products.
- Remove masking, tape, plastic, drop cloths, and floor protection as areas are released and document.
- Clean and maintain restrooms, break areas, job trailers, and material storage areas.
- Assist RPG crews with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Keep housekeeping current throughout the shift rather than only at the end of the day; maintain a clean-as-you-go standard.
- Report damage, deficiencies, or unsafe conditions found while cleaning to the Quality and Safety Department/Site Manager immediately.
- Use cleaning chemicals only as labeled and per the applicable safety data sheets; store and dispose of them properly.
- Maintain, clean, and properly store all cleaning equipment; report broken or unsafe equipment.
- Follow all RPG safety requirements, including PPE, and complete required sign-in sheets and toolbox talks.
- Work in coordination with other trades on site and avoid disturbing completed or in-progress work.
- Support final walkthrough and punch-list cleanup so areas are turnover-ready for the general contractor and owner.
