About The Position

The Construction Automation Specialist supports the day-to-day operation, setup, and maintenance of Construction Automation systems on an assigned construction project. This role provides hands-on support for digital tools, workflows, and field related technology used by construction, project controls, ES&H, commissioning, and various other teams. Working under the direction of the Construction Automation Lead, the Construction Automation Specialist focuses on practical execution, system setup, user support, and maintaining reliable Construction Automation operations in an active project environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Information Systems, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting construction technology, digital systems, or site-based IT/automation environments
  • Hands-on experience with construction or field technology platforms, including document management systems, reporting tools, mobile applications, and Bechtel automation systems (e.g., TEAMWorks, SetRoute, Smart Completions) or equivalent tools.
  • Comfortable working in an active construction or industrial site environment
  • Basic understanding of construction functions, disciplines, and workflows and overall capital project execution processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on, self-directing mindset
  • Ability to work effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and contractors
  • Willingness to learn and grow into expanded Construction Automation responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Supports the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Construction Automation systems and tools
  • Assists with basic setup, configuration, and administration of Construction Automation applications, including reports, user access, and security roles
  • Assists in the deployment of Construction Automation systems on mobile devices such as tablets, phones, or push-to-talk devices
  • Supports the processing, quality checks, and publishing of visualization data collected from drones, mobile devices, and other site data capture sources
  • Monitors system usage and data quality and addresses routine issues impacting daily operations
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of software and connectivity issues and escalates complex items to the Construction Automation Lead
  • Supports user training, onboarding, and day-to-day assistance for project teams and contractors
  • Follows approved Construction Automation standards, configurations, and procedures
  • Documents common issues, resolutions, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement
