About The Position

This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF project has multiple work schedules that are subject to change and may require employees to work overtime and/or night shift when a business need arises. In this role, you will lead construction automation efforts for complex projects, using database management, programming skills, and 3D tools. You will establish and administer the portfolio of construction automation applications on the jobsite and data requirements. You will review performance and recommend adjustments to tailor solutions to support strategy and compliance.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle database administration.
  • Experience developing complex reports/views combining data from multiple sources.
  • Experience with SQA documentation.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces
  • US citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.

  • Familiarity with nuclear quality and commercial practice standards is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provides automation support to teams on project, including setup, training, application and process, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close-out of all construction automation software’s and applications
  • Arranges, prepares, and conducts meetings, workshops, and presentations as required
  • Assists with executing the project automation plan
  • Evaluates and coordinates the implementation of new automation modules and tools
  • Tests and supports data integration of new releases of production software/programs
  • Customizes applications as required by customer
  • Prepares user guides and training material and delivers training
  • Develops performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and use in improvements
  • Applies knowledge of database management, programming skills, and 3D tools, to support team and project construction planning, work packaging, progress reporting, material management, turnover/completions, workforce management and timekeeping
  • Coordinate construction requirements with project IT lead/manager to ensure they’re incorporated in the project automation plan
