About The Position

A midsized Manhattan-based construction company is seeking an experienced Construction Assistant Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years of construction-related experience working as an Assistant Superintendent, Field Superintendent, or in a similar construction management role. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable managing day-to-day field operations on active construction projects throughout New York City. The Assistant Superintendent will report to the Director of Construction and/or Project Executive and will assist with the coordination, scheduling, supervision, and execution of project field activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of construction experience as an Assistant Superintendent or in a similar field supervision role.
  • Experience working on construction projects in New York City strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and field coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of jobsite safety requirements and construction industry regulations.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and proactively develop solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Procore proficiency required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Department of Buildings Construction Superintendent license preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily management and supervision of construction site activities.
  • Coordinate and direct subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Help maintain project schedules and ensure subcontractors meet required milestones.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure construction is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Identify, communicate, and help resolve field-related issues before they impact the project schedule.
  • Maintain a safe and organized jobsite and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate daily field progress to project management.
  • Coordinate inspections, deliveries, manpower, and site logistics.
  • Review drawings and specifications and assist with identifying conflicts or constructability issues.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, site documentation, photographs, and project records.
  • Assist with punch list completion and project closeout.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with subcontractors, project managers, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders.
