About The Position

SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a Construction Administrator to provide administrative oversight and evaluation across all construction disciplines for projects with the U.S. Government and private sector. This role involves reviewing construction activities for compliance with contract documents, codes, and VA standards, analyzing contractor work, and supporting the preparation and review of construction documents. The position also entails financial management, monitoring project budgets, reviewing contractor pay applications, and assisting with change orders. Additionally, the Construction Administrator will maintain and review project schedules, track progress, and support schedule coordination. Comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and logs, will be managed, along with project correspondence and contractual documentation. The role requires participation in progress meetings, coordination between stakeholders and contractors, and assisting in issue resolution. Quality assurance through site inspections, tracking deficiencies, and supporting testing processes are also key responsibilities. Finally, the position involves evaluating construction impacts on active operations and supporting phasing plans to maintain patient care, safety, and facility operations, while identifying associated risks.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required (clearance process)
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation and obtain VA PIV badge
  • Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience or equivalent education/experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting construction administration activities (RFIs, submittals, change orders, documentation)
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, QA/QC, scheduling, and cost control
  • Experience reviewing contractor work and identifying deficiencies relative to construction documents
  • Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with General Contractor and subcontractor operations
  • Experience monitoring construction for quality assurance and compliance
  • Understanding of baseline schedules and progress tracking
  • Ability to support analysis of cost, schedule, and performance data
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office tools

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative oversight and evaluation across all construction disciplines.
  • Review construction activities for compliance with contract documents, codes, and VA standards.
  • Analyze contractor work to identify deficiencies, inconsistencies, and non-conforming conditions.
  • Support preparation and review of construction documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Monitor project budgets, obligations, and expenditures.
  • Review contractor pay applications and validate progress against completed work.
  • Assist with preparation, evaluation, and documentation of change orders and cost proposals.
  • Maintain and review project schedules, identifying risks and delays.
  • Track progress against milestones and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support schedule coordination between stakeholders and contractors.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, submittmits, meeting minutes, and logs.
  • Track project correspondence, records, and contractual documentation.
  • Support preparation of reports for leadership and contracting personnel.
  • Participate in and support weekly progress meetings with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communication between contractors, government personnel, and project teams.
  • Assist in resolving project issues and facilitating alignment across all parties.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Track deficiencies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support testing and inspection processes across multiple construction disciplines.
  • Evaluate construction impacts on active medical center operations.
  • Support phasing plans to maintain patient care, safety, and facility operations.
  • Identify risks related to safety, access, utilities, and environmental conditions.
