About The Position

A growing and well-established commercial construction company is seeking a Construction Accountant with strong construction accounting experience and long-term growth potential. Join a collaborative accounting team supporting construction accounting, project accounting, and financial operations with a clear path toward increased responsibility and future accounting leadership. This is a succession-planning opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to grow into a key leadership role within the accounting department. The company is actively interviewing and is looking to hire immediately. This is a full-time, 100% in-office position in a collaborative office environment. The office environment is highly collaborative where you'll work directly with experienced accounting leadership and company ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–7+ years of accounting experience.
  • Construction accounting experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction job costing
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounts payable
  • Strong knowledge of lien waivers
  • Strong knowledge of Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
  • Strong knowledge of paid-when-paid construction payment processes
  • Strong knowledge of vendor compliance
  • Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is preferred.
  • Experience with Procore, including Cost Management and Project Management, is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Stable employment history.
  • Desire to grow into a broader construction accounting and future accounting leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction accounting activities across multiple projects.
  • Process construction-related invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform job cost coding and monitor project costs.
  • Administer construction accounts payable and vendor payment processes.
  • Review and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs), lien waivers, and vendor compliance documentation.
  • Track paid-when-paid payment requirements.
  • Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Support project accounting and financial reporting.
  • Assist with the implementation and continued optimization of Procore.
  • Partner with project managers and accounting leadership to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Take on expanded accounting responsibilities with the opportunity to grow into a future accounting leadership position.
