About The Position

The Construction Accounting Lead is a senior contributor responsible for owning key construction accounting processes and serving as a financial partner to Operations. This role is designed to take ownership of day-to-day project accounting work, ensure project financials are accurate and timely, and drive process improvements in the organization. This position will also have accounting responsibilities for our other companies including Dells Materials Company and Dells Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field plus 5+ years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with job cost accounting, WIP, and project financials
  • Proven ability to apply experience and judgment
  • Comfortable working in cross functional teams
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum, Power BI and/or Crystal Reports is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain monthly WIP schedules for leadership review
  • Partner with Project Managers to explain financial results, identify risks, and resolve issues
  • Perform first level review of cost-to-complete updates and project billing
  • Review job cost reports and proactively correct discrepancies
  • Answer AP and billing questions and review cutoff accuracy for AP and job cost postings
  • Assist in mentoring finance team support staff
  • Assist with daily AP tasks
  • Own and improve defined construction accounting processes
  • Resolve issues independently and escalate judgment or policy questions as needed
  • Support audits, bonding, and project related reporting
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of the job cost system
  • Deliver clean, review-ready month-end packages
