As an Accounting Lead, they will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the books and executing a timely, accurate close for the Melville manufacturing site. Reporting to the Plant Controller, this role focuses on general ledger accuracy, reconciliations, inventory and cost accounting, and fixed asset accounting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for accurate month-end close.
  • Reconcile and analyze site-level balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and GAAP standards.
  • Track and analyze manufacturing expenses, collaborating with Operations to explain key drivers.
  • Support monthly close and reporting deliverables through a cross-site coordination model.
  • Develop standardized templates and reconciliations to ensure alignment in accounting treatment and variance explanations.
  • Preform inventory reconciliation and support cycle counts.
  • Review and post inventory adjustments with appropriate documentation.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, work orders and absorption.
  • Support accurate costing and inventory valuation
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain for data validation.
  • Maintain construction-in-progress (CIP) schedules and ensure accurate tagging of assets placed in service.
  • Partner with Engineering to track project status, capitalization, and depreciation.
  • Manage monthly fixed asset reconciliation and lapsing schedules.
  • Support internal and external audits through accurate schedules and documentation
  • Ensure adherence to internal control requirements
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting process and controls.
