About The Position
Shah Development, an established, growing Class A General Contractor in Christiansburg, Virginia is seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to join our management team. You will oversee project costing, progress billings, subcontractor compliance, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate understands the financial lifecycle of commercial and residential construction and excavation projects from estimation to closeout.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent job experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience.
- QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office Suite, construction tracking software, general use of internet and AI resources.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and clear communication.
Responsibilities
- Track labor, equipment, materials and vendor invoices against established budget allocations.
- Prepare customer invoices and bank draw requests as needed.
- Verify lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and W-9 compliance.
- Perform reporting and payment of various state and federal taxes, including sales/use, highway use, real estate and personal property.
- Generate monthly profit-and-loss statements, work-in-progress (WIP) reports, cash flow/project equity reports and various complex internal tracking reports.
