About The Position

This position is responsible for conducting field investigations related to elevated electric and water consumption, including high-bill complaints, and for supporting the enforcement of PWC water and electric conservation ordinances, programs, and initiatives. The Conservation Specialist assists customers with usage concerns; evaluates opportunities for water and electric efficiency; and supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of conservation, efficiency, and demand response programs. Work includes compiling data, preparing reports and recommendations, conducting physical energy and water usage audits, communicating with customers through appropriate channels, responding to assigned escalated customer concerns, and representing PWC during customer interactions, group presentations, workshops, and other external engagements. The position may also report suspected electric or water diversion to Utility Field Services and must comply with all PWC safety rules and regulations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Customer Service Manager in accordance with established policies and procedures, with latitude for independent judgment in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Extended hours and weekend availability may be required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of water and electric safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of PWC service territory.
  • Knowledge of meter operations and functionality.
  • Skill in using computers and applicable software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Code Red, GIS, and Oracle applications such as C2M and RNI preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently.
  • Ability to research, plan, coordinate, schedule, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to retrieve, compile, update, and maintain data from PWC systems and other computer applications.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed notes and records.
  • Ability to prepare, update, and submit accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with customers, internal PWC partners, and external associates.
  • Ability to operate a PWC vehicle safely and in accordance with PWC guidelines.
  • Graduation from a two (2) year accredited college/technical college with a degree/certification in a field related to technical trades such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing, engineering or energy related field, and a minimum of two (2) years of utility experience, OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and a minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in electric and water operations, or related utility customer service field work.

  • Preferred background in electric and/or water conservation methods and applications.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred.
