About The Position

Reporting to the Conservation Officer III (CO III), the Conservation Officer II (CO II) is responsible for delivering wildlife management, environmental protection, and renewable resource programs while enforcing territorial and federal legislation in accordance with the Nunavut Agreement. Working closely with the Hunters and Trappers Organizations (HTOs), harvesters, communities, and partner agencies, the CO II promotes conservation, public education, and responsible resource management that supports Nunavut’s mixed and traditional economy. Through strong relationships, effective enforcement, and community engagement, this role helps ensure the sustainable use of wildlife and natural resources for current and future generations. This department provides education and outreach to a wide range of audiences including youth, community members, elders and teachers to ensure the Inuit societal value of Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq (environmental stewardship).

Requirements

Must be a resident of Pangnirtung, Sanikiluaq, or Clyde River.

Responsibilities

Delivering wildlife management, environmental protection, and renewable resource programs.
