The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is seeking Conservation/Historic Preservation Workers (CW’s) for temporary seasonal positions, not exceeding six months, at various locations throughout Illinois, including Sahara Woods. These roles involve performing routine maintenance and janitorial duties for site buildings and public use areas, such as groundskeeping, cleaning shelters, shower houses, and privies, and managing trash and debris. Workers will also be responsible for operating and performing routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles, including cleaning and repairing hand tools, and changing fluids and filters. Additionally, CW’s will assist in habitat management and various hunting programs. Some positions may also involve site interpretation. The Office of Land Management, under which this role falls, manages nearly 400 land parcels and promotes outdoor recreation, conservation, and preservation, including activities like hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and interpretive programming at Historic Sites.
