About The Position

The Connectivity Engineer (NAO) - Split Shift role involves comprehensive project planning, control, and execution within a data center environment. This position requires close collaboration with site project management teams, installation partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project scope, schedules, and milestones are met. The role focuses on driving efficiencies, documenting best practices, supporting forecasting and budget efforts, and managing vendor performance to achieve 'right first time' execution. A key aspect is ensuring quality assurance through physical inspections and validating vendor work against established standards. The engineer will also serve as a technical lead for industry and company standards, managing the Request for Information process and developing solutions for in-field issues. Strong communication and engagement with construction, logistics, vendors, and suppliers are essential for a smooth end-to-end flow of materials and proactive risk management. Safety adherence according to local regulations and company best practices is paramount.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and report on site project and program scope, schedules, and milestones.
  • Work closely with the site project management team throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review ongoing projects for efficiencies in schedule, budget, and opportunities for cross-functional partners.
  • Document data points to assist with field coordination of projects.
  • Support the development of project management best practices and initiatives.
  • Coordinate SOPs/SIPs with vendors and participate in global and regional standards.
  • Coordinate lessons learned with internal and external cross-functional partners.
  • Support project controls team with forecasting and budget efforts.
  • Share current project status with upstream and downstream partners, ensuring crisp and complete handoffs.
  • Establish milestones for equipment purchase and track and report against these milestones.
  • Assist with the selection and review of a contractor for structured cabling work within a data center.
  • Report progress and risks on site projects and other initiatives to key stakeholders.
  • Work with installation partners to establish and track milestones.
  • Conduct pre-project planning, project handoffs, and ensure design delivery and verification.
  • Identify and respond to project risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
  • Track and manage project change order requests.
  • Responsible for all connectivity activities within construction and projects on site, including tracking and reporting progress against schedule expectations.
  • Set and communicate clear expectations with the immediate site team.
  • Build key relationships with installation partners.
  • Foster a safe, collaborative working environment and execute a goal of ‘right first time.’
  • Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets quality standards throughout the data center lifecycle.
  • Validate physical installs, test reports, build accuracy, material, and local code compliance.
  • Conduct constructability reviews on multiple design phases.
  • Serve as the technical lead for industry and company standards.
  • Lead product evaluation, design, and installation methods in the field.
  • Manage the Request for Information process, including scope clarification, design, and installation details.
  • Develop solutions to in-field scope-gap or clash issues.
  • Partner with design and engineering teams to digitally support design reviews, BOM reviews, and as-built drawing validations.
  • Liaise with construction partners to ensure deliverables are met during new builds and retrofits.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure a smooth end-to-end flow of materials.
  • Proactively communicate progress and project risks and initiatives to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure vendors adhere to safety obligations in accordance with local regulations and company Safety best practices.
  • Lead a 'safety first' experience while working with others.
  • Foster an environment of open and transparent communication.
