Connected Factory AI Engineer

About The Position

Connected Factory is a program focused on the technical stewardship of key integration capabilities and their associated platforms across Manufacturing Operations at AbbVie. The Connected Factory Engineering team will be responsible for helping progress the technical roadmap of platforms, accelerating the maturity of integrations between critical components of AbbVie's manufacturing shopfloor, and advancing the availability of data for advanced use cases. Scaling and providing operational support for Connected Factory's responsibilities will require a unique mix of custom tools to assist the people and processes across our organization. As an AI Engineer, you will contribute significantly to the agility and productivity of our IT organization by helping quickly build and scale solutions supporting daily and strategic operations for Connected Factory leveraging AI and ML tools. Your work will be crucial in enabling our IT organization (Business Technology Solutions) to fulfill its mission of using technology to propel AbbVie to the forefront of our industry. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of related experience; or Master's Degree with 0 experience
  • Experience as a Developer, Data Scientist, Engineer/Integrator, or similar role
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, and their capabilities
  • Excellent analytical and consultative skills and the ability to work efficiently with clients and other IT management and staff
  • Detail-oriented with a high focus on deliverables
  • Must exhibit exceptional teamwork skills
  • Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies and platforms related to software design and development, programming languages, data integration, data analysis, and visualization tools
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver working software and maintain that software over time in a production environment
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Ignition, Kepware, OSI PI, HighByte, and/or AWS Cloud Services
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions focused around Connected Factory platforms
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing platforms and solutions through API's
  • Deliver clean, scalable, well-optimized code
  • Implement agentic workflows, from scratch where necessary
  • Stay current with AI/ML advances and evaluate emerging tools and frameworks
  • Help build solutions within constraints/standards, including cost, performance, and security
  • Provide technical guidance and support to development teams at sites to ensure that global gen AI best practices and standards are followed in their custom solution development efforts
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards through thorough code reviews
  • Help manage DevOps processes and required documentation for solutions
