About The Position

The role involves assisting with reviewing program-unique specifications (system, development, and product for hardware and software) for format, content, and compliance. It includes processing nomenclature and CPIN requests, and tracking them through government agencies. The position supports configuration control functions, including managing ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, RFDs/RFWs, DRs, and airworthiness directives. It requires reviewing change proposals for impacts, making recommendations, and assisting with CCB and business management boards. The role also involves preparing and submitting product data, supporting CCB Charter development, and administering CCB activities. Planning/implementing FCAs and PCAs and confirming data adequacy is part of the role. Additionally, it includes reviewing OEM proposals and reports for configuration status accounting and compliance with technical data requirements. Maintaining configuration status accounting databases and records is essential. The position will assist data users with selecting and tailoring DIDs, preparing DIDs, and completing data management forms like CDRL and AF Form 585. Support will be provided for organizing and issuing data calls, including drafting data call letters. Understanding distribution statements and FAR/DFARS data rights clauses, evaluating change proposals for data impacts, and monitoring contract technical data delivery and approval are key. Assistance will be provided for data reviews, integrating inputs, preparing documentation, participating in reviews, drafting data, reviewing minutes, and tracking action items. Support will be given in preparing and maintaining CDRLs for RFPs, contracts, and modifications. The role supports the DR function of JDRS, including receiving, processing, and tracking DRs, maintaining files and databases, providing disposition instructions, and assisting with MIP Review Board meetings. Engineering data management support is required, including preparing/updating data management plans, maintaining activity files, and providing technical support for guidance conferences and drawing IPRs. Configuration/data management-related research, analyses, studies, documentation, and briefing development/delivery are also part of the responsibilities. The role requires applying knowledge of configuration management fundamentals and the deficiency reporting process to maintain consistency of a product's attributes throughout its life.

Requirements

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level - NO Exceptions
  • U.S. Citizenship required for U.S. Government entity.
  • MA/MS degree, and twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five (5) years of which must be in the DoD.
  • BA/BS, fifteen (15) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
  • HSD/GED, twenty (20) years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the Functionally Aligned Job Descriptions, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills to develop and maintain working relationships with the internal and external personnel involved with the project or program.
  • Possess the knowledge, experience, and recognized ability to be considered an expert in the technical/professional field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing program-unique specifications for proper format, content, and compliance with program requirements and appropriate standards.
  • Process requests for nomenclature and requests for Computer Program Identification Numbers (CPINs); and track the requests through the appropriate government agencies for responding back to the customer.
  • Support the configuration control function, to include receipt, dissemination, processing, tracking, and final disposition of ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, Requests for Deviation/ Waiver (RFD/RFW), DRs, airworthiness directive notes, service introductions.
  • Review change proposals for thoroughness, configuration and data management impacts and compliance with Government requirements; make appropriate recommendations for Government review and disposition.
  • Assist in the preparation and conduct of CCB and business management boards (or their equivalent); assist in maintaining change proposal files; and assist in providing historical information.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting product data or perform other configuration management activities as required, to include support for CCB Charter development and the administration of CCB activities.
  • Plan/implement FCAs and PCAs and confirm the adequacy of data used to support these audits.
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating OEM proposals and reports for configuration status accounting of assigned systems/subsystem(s) and compliance with Government technical data requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining configuration status accounting databases and records to reflect the configuration status of baseline documentation and fielded systems and equipment.
  • Assist data users and requesters with the selection and tailoring of DIDs; preparation of one-time and standard DIDs; and filling out data management forms such as CDRL and Contractor Data Requirements Substantiation (AF Form 585).
  • Provide support and expertise to assist in organizing and issuing data calls in support of weapons systems and subsystems. This support shall include drafting of data call letters for Government review and release.
  • Have understanding of distribution statements and FAR/DFARS data rights clauses; evaluating change proposals for impacts to data; monitoring the delivery and approval of contract technical data to include report generation and follow up actions and record maintenance in the AF Generation, Receiving, Integrated Tracking System (GRITS).
  • Assist in data reviews. This assistance shall include integrating inputs from Program Office/IPT functionals into draft CDRLs, preparing data review documentation, participating in data reviews, drafting data, reviewing minutes, and following up and maintaining statuses of action items.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation and maintenance of CDRLs for inclusion in weapon system contractor RFPs, contracts, and contract modifications.
  • Provide support to the DR function operation of the Joint Deficiency Reporting System (JDRS) or similar system for originating, to include assisting with receiving, processing and tracking DRs; establishing and maintaining DR/Material Improvement Project (MIP) files and databases; providing disposition instruction for exhibits; and assisting in the planning and conduct of MIP Review Board meetings.
  • Assist by providing engineering data management support for program requirements to include preparing or updating and maintaining any engineering data management plan; establishing and maintaining an engineering data activity file; and providing technical support in the preparation of and conduct of engineering data guidance conferences and engineering drawing In-Process Reviews (IPRs).
  • Provide configuration/data management-related research, analyses, studies, documentation, briefing development, and assistance in briefing delivery as required to support mission partner activities.
  • Apply knowledge of the fundamentals of configuration management and the deficiency reporting process to assist in establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life.
