About The Position

The Condition Monitoring Specialist (CMS) serves as a primary resource and consultative partner to the Condition Monitoring Analyst (CMA) team within the Fleet Performance department. This role bridges platform expertise, customer engagement, and operational enablement — working alongside CMAs to ensure fleet health programs are executed effectively, customers receive proactive guidance, and the tools and systems supporting condition monitoring operate at peak efficiency. The Condition Monitoring Specialist is expected to exercise independent judgment, drive process improvements, and serve as a subject matter expert across Cat Foresight, diagnostic tooling, and fleet monitoring best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in a fleet operations, technology support, or condition monitoring role; heavy equipment or construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cat Foresight, SIS, ET, or similar telematics and fleet management platforms.
  • Prior experience in a consultative or cross-functional support role, advising technical teams or serving as a subject matter resource.
  • Deep understanding of condition monitoring principles, fleet health analysis, and Caterpillar diagnostic tooling.
  • Strong consultative communication skills; ability to translate complex platform or data concepts into actionable guidance for CMAs and customers.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret fleet data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); experience with fleet management or asset tracking software required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities, multiple stakeholders, and time-sensitive deliverables independently.
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes initiative, identifies issues before they escalate, and drives resolution.
  • Collaborative team player with a genuine commitment to enabling CMA success and delivering value to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a consultative partner to CMAs, providing guidance on Cat Foresight platform usage, alert interpretation, and fleet monitoring strategies.
  • Advise CMAs on best practices for customer communication, escalation handling, and condition monitoring workflows.
  • Assist CMAs in identifying gaps in fleet coverage or monitoring configurations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with CMAs to develop and refine diagnostic approaches, ensuring consistent and high-quality analysis across the team.
  • Serve as a first point of escalation for CMA questions related to platform functionality, tooling, or process ambiguity.
  • Oversee the integrity and configuration of the Cat Foresight platform, ensuring assets, sites, and groups accurately reflect current fleet and customer structures.
  • Partner with CMAs to evaluate auto-recommendations and guide the team on appropriate responses and enrollment decisions.
  • Monitor platform dashboard utilization and adoption metrics; advise CMAs and leadership on trends and opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Lead platform audits in coordination with CMAs to validate data accuracy and identify enrollment gaps or inactive assets.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on Cat Foresight capabilities, communicating updates or feature changes to the CMA team.
  • Consult with CMAs on customer fleet health reviews, helping translate condition monitoring data into actionable recommendations for customers.
  • Support CMAs in preparing customer-facing materials, enrollment communications, and platform onboarding guidance.
  • Assist CMAs in identifying opportunities to expand fleet coverage or deepen customer engagement with condition monitoring programs.
  • Participate in customer-facing interactions alongside CMAs when technical platform expertise or program consultation is required.
  • Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that give CMAs and leadership visibility into fleet enrollment status, platform utilization, and team workload.
  • Analyze CMA performance data and condition monitoring metrics to surface insights that drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the Fleet Performance Manager with ad hoc analysis, data pulls, and strategic reporting needs.
  • Ensure data integrity across all condition monitoring systems; identify and resolve discrepancies in coordination with CMAs and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, process guides, and reference materials that equip CMAs to perform their roles efficiently and consistently.
  • Lead or facilitate onboarding for new CMAs, ensuring they are prepared with platform access, tooling, and operational context.
  • Identify knowledge gaps within the CMA team and proactively create or source training resources to address them.
  • Maintain a living knowledge base of condition monitoring best practices, platform updates, and lessons learned.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the CMA team and Caterpillar or third-party vendors on platform issues, tooling needs, and service escalations.
  • Track open support tickets and platform defects; communicate status and resolution timelines to affected CMAs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (IT, Finance, Sales) to align workflows, resolve cross-functional issues, and support CMA operational needs.
  • Represent CMA team interests in vendor discussions and internal planning conversations, advocating for tools and processes that enhance team effectiveness.
  • Manage SIS (Service Information System) and ET (Electronic Technician) license activations and renewals, ensuring uninterrupted CMA tool access.
  • Oversee laptop bundle procurement, configuration, inventory tracking, and sales coordination in support of CMA and customer-facing programs.
