We’re looking for a passionate Condition Monitoring Engineer – Overhead Lines to join our Asset Operations Team! You’ll take a leading role in assessing the condition of c.4,500 miles of the overhead line and 22,000 transmission towers that make up the high voltage electricity network in England and Wales. Utilising a number of Condition Monitoring techniques to gather data, analyse degradation trends and apply engineering principles to provide the business with decision-making insights that enable one of the UK’s most critical pieces of infrastructure to be maintained, as we drive towards the UK’s net-zero targets. As a subject matter expert in OHL Condition Monitoring, you will play a leading role in the analysis and management of critical condition data as part of NGET’s annual condition assessment and maintenance programme. You will assess critical overhead line components for defects and to provide the business with critical insights that will inform future maintenance and rectification strategies. You will assist in the management of the broad range of National Grid’s OHL Condition Monitoring processes and will undertake data gathering activities that utilise the deployment of advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) / Drone Operations to inspect NGET’s OHL assets. This role is peripatetic, and we encourage a hybrid working approach, although we’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
