About The Position

The Concurrent Enrollment Advisor supports concurrent student admissions, advising, registration and the concurrent enrollment partnerships between CMU and local education providers. The Concurrent Enrollment Advisor assists with all facets of concurrent enrollment admissions, advising, registration, reporting and data analysis. The position assists students, parents, school counselors, and other internal and external stakeholders with problem-solving related to all facets of concurrent enrollment. The Concurrent Enrollment Advisor is expected to communicate professionally and confidently with a diverse group of students, parents/supporters, high school counselors and district staff. The position maintains detailed and accurate records utilizing the Slate CRM, Banner SIS, and Synergy SIS systems. Other duties may be assigned as needed by our institution.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Slate CRM, Banner SIS, and Synergy SIS.
  • Understand Appreciative Advising framework.
  • Be able to interpret and apply admission and academic policies.
  • Willingness to connect with students, families, school counselors, district personnel, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills and public speaking abilities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general written materials, professional publications, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and prepare and conduct verbal and visual presentation of materials.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, and board of directors.
  • Strategic and analytical reasoning skills are necessary.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
  • The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Applicant must be able to verify U.S. employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Admissions, advising, teaching or student service experience preferred.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform concurrent enrollment duties including recruitment, program selection, application processing, registration, and continued communication to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain student records using knowledge of concurrent enrollment opportunities, courses, requirements and placement procedures.
  • Identify and promote concurrent enrollment opportunities for local education providers by sharing information about CMU’s various concurrent enrollment opportunities.
  • Provide academic and career and technical education advice.
  • Speak in public and present at both large and small events, meetings, orientations and other related events.
  • Support concurrent students and families while enrolled in courses, for subsequent concurrent enrollment, and with degree seeking enrollment at CMU.
  • Serve as a resource for concurrent information and solutions with internal stakeholders.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student workers on concurrent processing and solutions.
  • Maintain school district records in Synergy SIS.
  • Processing concurrent enrollment applications and registration forms.
  • Provide information to prospective high school students and their families about concurrent enrollment options.
  • Consult with school counselors on concurrent enrollment admissions and registration processes.
  • Advise concurrent enrollment students and their families on CMU and CMU Tech courses, programs, and subsequent enrollment options.
  • Support concurrent enrollment students towards degree seeking status at CMU or CMU Tech.
