Summary: The Civil Foreman is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead and manage construction crews effectively,
  • Must have at least 5 years of Heavy Highway construction experience,
  • Expected to obtain and maintain training and certification in the following if not already certified,
  • (MDE) Erosion and Sediment Control,
  • MD SHA MOT,
  • OSHA 10,
  • OSHA 30
  • Valid driver’s license,
  • Ability to read drawing, plans and blueprints,
  • Experience in civil construction, including structural concrete, roads, earthworks and drainage projects,
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills,
  • Ability to effectively communicate,
  • Solid problem-solving skills,
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Plans the day-to-day operations on assigned projects and ensures that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material,
  • Ensure that work is performed safely and in accordance with project plans and specifications,
  • Makes recommendations on the hiring, training, corrective action and termination of crew members,
  • Monitor progress and report on project status to project managers,
  • Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety regulations and protocols, including use of safety equipment and enforcement of safety procedures,
  • Foster a positive work environment focuses on teamwork and collaboration,
  • Accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets quality standards,
  • Coordinate and maintain work schedule/deadlines with project managers and other management personnel,
  • Within own discretion or judgment, assists with hands on work as may be required to accomplish operations,
  • Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc.,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends,
  • Additional duties as required.
