About The Position

Canyon Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Concrete Construction Superintendent to join their Operations team. The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations of concrete construction projects, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and meets Canyon's quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves close collaboration with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, Foremen, customers, vendors, and other trades.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in concrete construction
  • 5+ years experience as a Superintendent working in concrete construction
  • Previous experience managing 7 or more employees on a jobsite
  • Strong understanding of concrete construction operations
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and blueprints
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily concrete construction activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials.
  • Plan and maintain project schedules in conjunction with the General Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Coordinate daily work with Foremen, adjusting plans as necessary for weather, deliveries, manpower, and changing jobsite conditions.
  • Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, project scope, schedules, RFIs, ASIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Review survey and jobsite layout, identifying potential problems before they impact the project.
  • Prepare daily jobsite reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Develop and present two-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate orders for concrete, stone, slab packages, and other materials.
  • Conduct daily huddles, including stretch and flex, hazard analysis, work assignments, and equipment inspections.
  • Lead weekly safety toolbox talks and maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety.
  • Maintain quality standards and complete pre-pour checklists.
  • Attend Foreman and production meetings and coordinate work with other trades.
  • Resolve jobsite issues related to materials, employees, scheduling, and project progress.
  • Address conflicts and communication issues promptly and professionally.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and project partners.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and grow Canyon's business.
