About The Position

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step. This is an entry-level position.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Concrete Carpenter Helper in a Power Plant / Industrial setting.
  • Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
  • Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
  • Must be able to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Must be able to work in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Must be able to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site.
  • Must have required tools.
  • Must observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Carpenter in layout work and learn to perform lay-out work independently.
  • Learn to read and understand plans and specifications, and visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and workpieces during installations.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level and install all other items as directed.
  • Load, transport, unload and furnish crew with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
