Concrete Batch Plant Operator – Full Time
About The Position
The Concrete Batch Plant Operator is responsible for processing and handling orders, ensuring proper directions are acquired from customers and relayed to drivers, and managing the loading order of drivers. This role also involves ensuring the quality of concrete mixes, reporting any quality control issues to management, and maintaining customer relationships through excellent customer service and complaint handling. The operator will correspond with the office regarding customer account numbers, report any driver or customer-related problems to management, and manage cement and flyash inventory. Responsibilities include keeping bins topped off and materials pushed up in pits, conducting daily plant inspections, and reporting any issues to management. The operator must immediately notify management of any vehicle accidents, safety violations, or job-related injuries, maintain the appearance of the batch office, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot or recognize equipment issues
- Basic computer skills required (ability to learn and operate computerized batching systems)
- Strong customer service and communication skills required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow mix specifications accurately
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work early mornings, extended shifts, and overtime
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in concrete batching, ready-mix, construction, or a related industrial field preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Processing and handling orders
- Ensuring proper directions are acquired from customer and relayed to driver
- Ensuring that drivers are in line to be loaded in the proper order
- Ensuring quality of mixes and reporting quality control problems to Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
- Maintaining customer relationships (including quality customer service and proper handling of customer complaints)
- Corresponding with office concerning proper customer account numbers
- Reporting driver and/or customer related problems to Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
- Maintaining cement and flyash inventory
- Keeping bins topped off and materials pushed up in the pits when necessary
- Inspecting plant every day and reporting problems to Plant Manager
- Notifying Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager immediately of any vehicle accidents, safety violations, or job-related injuries
- Maintaining appearance of batch office
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
