About The Position

TDI, a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading designer and manufacturer of turbine-powered start systems and turbine air motors for the aerospace industry. The TDI site in Dayton, OH, is part of Unison, and is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-generation Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. The site also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry. This role involves performing Computerized Machine Operator (CMO) operations in an assigned cell, utilizing pneumatic tools, hand tools, and calibrated gauges. The operator will be responsible for daily preventative maintenance, verifying calibration, maintaining eQuals requirements, and performing basic housekeeping (5S) within their cell. A key aspect of the role is to review, understand, and follow work instructions, specifications, and blueprints to produce error-free products, meet production goals, and ensure accurate completion of all company paperwork. The position requires working under general direction in a team environment, adhering to Lean Manufacturing guidelines and company safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various computerized/manual machines and manufacturing operations within service cells.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General education Degree (GED).
  • 6 months of manufacturing related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to work with upper body extremities.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on occasion.
  • Items more than 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance.
  • Required to pass certification standards test and eye examination.
  • Willing to undergo on-the-job training in order to obtain CVP certification within first 6 months as an Associate CMO.
  • Willing to participate in MRO drug free workplace program.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior assembly and/or disassembly experience.
  • Prior machine operating experience.
  • Experience with manual or automated welding process.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other gages used to perform inspection.
  • Education or experience in programming and operations in programmable controllers.
  • PC experience in use of email, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and a cellular work environment.
  • Ability/prior experience reading and understanding routers and process instructions.
  • Tube bending experience.
  • CVP in Hydro and/or Boroscope.
  • Knowledge of swage, shrink processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors; works collaboratively and respects all others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CMO operations in assigned cell.
