About The Position

A Computer Vision Engineer II leverages advanced programming and machine-learning skills to create and optimize AI software and hardware that utilizes visual data to perform specific tasks or solve problems. This role is crucial for the development and enhancement of RPO (Rendezvous and Proximity Operations) capabilities and solutions for satellites. In this role, you will develop, implement, and optimize advanced computer vision algorithms and models to process and analyze visual data. You will lead the integration of computer vision solutions into satellite systems, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless functionality. Conducting comprehensive testing and validation of computer vision systems will be a key responsibility, ensuring high performance, accuracy, and reliability. You will design and develop sophisticated AI software and hardware for satellite applications, focusing on scalability and robustness. Maintaining, improving, and refactoring existing computer vision systems and algorithms will be essential to enhance performance and functionality. Additionally, you will document code, processes, and methodologies comprehensively for future reference and team collaboration. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers will be a critical part of your role, providing technical support and fostering knowledge sharing. Staying updated with the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning technologies, you will apply relevant innovations to current projects. You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers, and collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically 2+ years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of at least one programming language, and general knowledge of others.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles.
  • Ability to design, code, test, and debug complex software applications.
  • Experience with different software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum/Kanban.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to write and maintain technical documentation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with computer vision libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
