About The Position

Badger Technologies, a division of Jabil, delivers autonomous robotics, AI-driven analytics, and real-time data solutions that help major retailers improve inventory accuracy, safety, pricing integrity, compliance, and overall store performance. The organization combines startup-level innovation with Jabil’s global scale and manufacturing strength. As a Computer Vision (CV) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer you will design deep learning models and computer vision pipelines to identify, count, and track store merchandise. The role focuses on fine-tuning object detection models, processing high-resolution shelf images, and deploying edge AI solutions to accurately audit inventory in dynamic store environments. Additionally, you will create new and enhance current AI product offerings as well as support Badger’s AI offerings in the field. You will consult on system architectures, assess technical requirements and competencies, and point out shortcomings to produce a high-quality product. In addition, in this role you will interface with outside vendors used in developing AI solutions, revise and deploy enhanced AI Robotics solutions, develop new testing methodologies to stress the capabilities of current products, and collaborate with ROS engineers to improve solution performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • 5+ years of related experience in software development, neural networks, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting AI systems in customer-facing or field environments is highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and train deep learning models for fine-grained classification of thousands of retail products.
  • Experience building end-to-end vision pipelines to handle stitch-stitching, image rectification, and glare removal from moving robot cameras.
  • Experience establishing semi-automated data annotation pipelines and synthetic data generation techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer vision and deep learning tools, with experience in 3D vision, point cloud processing, camera calibration, and sensor fusion (RGB-D, LiDAR, cameras, radar).
  • Experience with multi-class object detection, instance segmentation, and metric learning.
  • Familiarity with code development and AI development frameworks, using Linux in a real-time environment, and C++ and Python languages.
  • Experience optimizing neural networks and data processing pipelines to minimize latency and CPU/GPU usage on embedded edge computing hardware is a plus.
