About The Position

The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense, Space, & Security organization is hiring an experienced or lead Computer Systems Engineer to support the development and integration of space payload emulators in El Segundo, California. The role focuses on hands-on embedded hardware and software development for Xilinx SoC/FPGA systems and front-end user interfaces. The engineer works in a laboratory alongside hardware, firmware, software, and test engineers to bring up hardware, integrate software and logic, and develop emulator interfaces. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining embedded software and firmware on Xilinx SoC platforms such as Zynq UltraScale+ and Versal; integrating and debugging PS/PL interfaces, AXI interconnects, and memory maps; developing BSPs, PetaLinux and embedded Linux distributions, device drivers, and communication interfaces; and conducting board bring-up and system debugging. The role also develops GUI dashboards, telemetry displays, and command interfaces, integrating them with embedded services, APIs, and hardware for monitoring and control. The engineer collaborates on hardware/software integration, prototyping, troubleshooting, and end-to-end testing, and provides technical leadership during integration milestones. The role uses Xilinx tools and modern software engineering practices, including code reviews, documentation, and Git/GitLab version control. This position is 100% onsite and is for first shift. It requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and satisfaction of Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment. The position is not contingent upon program award. Boeing offers relocation based on candidate eligibility; visa sponsorship is not available.
